Numskull :: Elliott Routledge
Numskull spends a good deal of time engrossed in the graffiti and street art scene. Using pop iconography, typography, signage and nostalgic ideas he creates bold statement pieces. Experiences with people, the mediocrity of life and the weird and wonderful everyday events are his inspiration.
Without any formal art education or training, Numskull’s style and practice have evolved through extensive experimentation and a short and ultimately frustrating former life in advertising.
He has illustrated for Globe, Hyundai and Bonds and exhibited inside galleries and outside on painted walls from London, Paris and Amsterdam to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore and recently the large scale “Here, Now’ mural for Art & About Festival in Sydney, Australia.
